The episode follows two main storylines: the Scranton team's business trip to Florida and the activities of those remaining back at the office. Dwight, determined to prove his leadership to Nellie

Dwight Schrute leads a hand-picked team—consisting of Jim, Ryan, Erin, Stanley, and Cathy—to Tallahassee to help Sabre launch a chain of retail stores. Upon arrival, Jim is woken up early by Dwight's intense wake-up call, leading Jim to stage a fake "murder scene" in his hotel room to prank Dwight. Dwight, determined to prove his leadership to Nellie Bertram (the President of Sabre Special Projects), pushes through severe physical pain that is later revealed to be appendicitis. Despite undergoing emergency surgery, Dwight returns to the meeting immediately after to impress Nellie.
