After his friend and former rival Apollo Creed is tragically killed in an exhibition match against the steroid-enhanced Soviet boxer Ivan Drago , Rocky Balboa comes out of retirement to avenge him.
Rocky travels to the Soviet Union to train in the frozen wilderness using primitive methods (lifting logs, climbing mountains) to prepare for a Christmas Day fight in Moscow against Drago’s high-tech, science-backed training.
