The most prominent "Jean Ferrère" is the founder of a prestigious dynasty of artists whose work defined the religious aesthetic of the Pyrenees region.

Born in Troubat, he established a workshop in Asté in 1647. He is celebrated for creating monumental Baroque altarpieces ( retables ) and tabernacles, often compared to the work of Pierre Affre. His style combined gilded wood architecture with expressive, sometimes "naive" religious figures.
