The story follows , a struggling artist working as a waitress who experiences a breakdown after a failed job interview and being dumped by her boyfriend just before Christmas. Desperate to live up to her family's high expectations during their annual mountain cabin getaway, she makes a split-second, irrational decision: she kidnaps David Martin , a customer at her restaurant, at gunpoint (using a fake gun) and forces him to accompany her home.
