Captain Underpants Access

Dav Pilkey conceived the character of Captain Underpants when he was in the second grade. Pilkey, who was diagnosed with ADHD and dyslexia as a child, often spent his time in the school hallway due to classroom disruptions. It was during these periods of "hallway time" that he created the original comic books featuring the superhero. Despite early discouragement from teachers, Pilkey's personal experiences with learning differences eventually became a "superpower" that helped him write stories that resonated with reluctant readers.
